Palazzo Versace Dubai is a proud display of the Versace brand's elegant sophistication and luxury. Our experience of the hotel’s services was top-notch, so expect our compliments throughout this post!
Palazzo Versace Dubai is an accessible venue. The hotel is minutes away from Dubai International Airport.
Should you check in at the hotel, you will find yourself at the heart of Dubai’s greatest infrastructure project, the Culture Village, which stands right next to the Dubai Creek. The hotel is also 10-15 minutes away from one of the world’s top tourist spots, the Burj Khalifa.
Rock Licker and I were welcomed by our chaffeur Mr. Zimir and we sped through Dubai highways in a luxurious BMW 7 Series.
Arrival at Palazzo Versace Dubai
When we arrived at Palazzo Versace Dubai, we were warmly welcomed by an inviting staff and a grand entrance ensemble. We were immediately greeted by a compelling sight: Versace limited-produced bright white urns, Versace-themed furnitures, a 1.5 million piece mosaic of an original Gianni Versace design which include the Versace Medusa (the literal Versace on the floor, to borrow from Bruno Mars). A 3000 kg Bohemia crystal chandelier from Czech Republic topped the whole ensemble and gave it a golden glow.
The lobby was only the beginning of the sophistication the hotel has to offer. Palazzo Versace Dubai has a total of 215 hotel rooms and suites, 8 restaurants and bars, and 3 outdoor pools. The general aesthetic of the venues and event halls was inspired by heritage of Italian palazzos, informal open spaces designed for recreation and enjoyment of a warm climate.
Palazzo is an extraordinary hotel. Every detail is a huge work of art and a homage to the Versace brand of luxury. The buildings were inspired by Italian architecture with some Arabic elements with all furnishings craftily designed by the Artistic Director Donatella Versace.
Checking in was a smooth process thanks to the engaging Front Desk Officer Fanny, Butler Surya and Bellman Raphael. For our three-day stay in the hotel, we had a Grand Suite to ourselves, a butler to assist us 24/7 and an access to the executive lounge.
The Grand Suite is a 130 sqm. of chic interiors and fine worksmanship. In this suite, the bedroom is separated from the living room with a dining area, work area and powder room. Outside there is a long and spacious balcony overlooking the main swimming pool. The suite also showcases a uniquely designed furniture fashioned by Versace and boasts an all-Versace Home Collection furnishings and crockery. As for the room technology, everything is controlled with a touch panel, from the room status, curtains, lights, temperature, etc.
The suite has an enormous bathroom with a dedicated toilet and bath, and spa tub that features an all-Versace vanities and amenities. Additionally, it is stunning with floor to ceiling Carrara marble tiling and hand-crafted stone mosaic wall and floor décor.
Breakfast at Giardino
Rock Licker and I went to have breakfast at Giardino, one of the eight restaurants of the hotel. It has its own impressive design style, largely inspired by Jennifer Lopez’s shimmery Versace red carpet outfit during the 2000 Grammy Awards.
Giardino, meaning Garden in Italian, is an all-green haven, accented with framed pastel-colored Versace fabrics that line its walls. Its column and floors are beautifully designed with terrazo tiles from Italy commissioned by the famous Italian artist, Fantini.
The restaurant ambiance, along with the staff's happy, fresh and optimistic personality, elevated our fine breakfast experience and brightened up our day.
Everyday during our breakfast, we were treated to delicious and freshly cooked food and fresh juices with a golden all-Versace crockery that belongs to an exclusive line “Rosenthal meets Versace” collection, inspired by “Les Reves Byzantines”. The chef’s cooking principle was quality over quantity, and it reflected on the dishes we ate.
Happiness Treatment at The Spa
There’s no better way to follow an amazing breakfast than with a couple spa. The spa gave us a relaxing and an unlikely sensory experience with an appropriately named “Happiness Treatment.”
We were presented spa water with 2 types of colorful mineral stones. Apparently, if you included rose quartz to your spa water, the massage will induce emotional healing. Meanwhile, drinking spa water with amethyst will induce purity.
I drank spa water with amethyst, while Rock Licker drank the rose quartz one.
We also chose a scent that created a happy mood for us. It was the hotel’s secret blend of premium essential oils.
Our couple massage afterwards gave us soft and smooth skin and left us feeling happy and relaxed. We were treated to organic foot wash, Himalayan salt body scrubs, and a warm oil treatment. We fell asleep in the middle of the treatment!
Afterwards, we were given green tea and dried apricot and dates to enjoy by the jacuzzi in our couple's treatment room. Indeed, it was truly happiness! The best one we’ve had in a long time!
The Spa - Leading Hotel Spa in GCC
We would like to commend The Spa for their wonderful service. Their Leading Hotel Spa award during the Leaders in Hospitality Awards 2017 was extremely well-deserved.
Lunch at Vanitas
We were supposed to have lunch at Vanitas but we enjoyed too much at the spa, we lost track of the time. When we went there, they were not serving lunch anymore because it was already 3:00 pm. We just decided to go up to our room, eat some fruits and take a nap.
Before we had dinner, we got the chance to tour the hotel. We were impressed by how posh it is. We bumped into fashion models, Hollywood celebrities and business leaders along the way. Moreso, the Director of Protocol & Government Relations, Bader Alansaari, accommodated us very nicely and happily engaged with us. He was a former Emirates Airlines Cabin Crew before progressing his career to prestigious post in hotel industry.
Dinner at Giardino
Then, it was dinner time! Giardino is another one of the eight restaurants in the hotel, it is also the same place where we had our breakfast everyday during our stay.
The staff consisted of a different set of faces, but the quality of service and food they provided us was consistent.
We were treated to a buffet spread, and Rock Licker tasted everything! I had the best time as I ate 25 fresh oysters and indulged in desserts for two hours! The mixologist also served us three different mocktails throughout our meal.
Our dinner at Giardino was a total of four hours long! It was the highlight of our night, which we capped off with a photowalk at the hotel. We were so obsessed with its aesthetic!
Enigma Friday Brunch
Before our Friday brunch, Rock Licker and I went to the Versace Jewellery display to look at their classic collection. I got to try on Versace classic necklaces, rings, and bracelets. Precious pieces worth 9,000 USD and above. It was truly impressive.
We were even more impressed by our experience at Enigma. Our server Sam was engaging and we learned his story. He came from Egypt, but he was born and raised in Dubai. He studied in an American School and pursued his passion in culinary arts and hospitality, which landed him a job in luxury hotels and now in Palazzo Versace Dubai.
Sam was very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our questions were all sufficiently answered, because he was well-trained.
Before we got to order, I had a Turkish Spritzer while Rock Licker chose Palmer tea.
Our whole meal consisted of a non-alcoholic brunch package.
We had Turkish bread, 4 kinds of mezzes, olives and wagyu carpaccio. The appetizer consisted of capsicum salad, lobster salad, the chef’s appetizer, sausage, pide and mainti. We dug in with our main dishes grilled beef rib and seabass.
For dessert, we had Turkish delights, Arabic sweets, Turkish ice cream and coffee.
Everything that they served us was truly a work of art and treat for all the senses.
Chef Gurkan Gozyilmaz
But our brunch experience was not limited to us eating, because Chef Gurkan Gozyilmaz engaged with us and told us his story. We found out he was Turkish, which made us remember our Turkey trip in 2015. Our exchange composed of us expressing love for Turkey’s people, food, history, and culture.
Signature and Imperial Suite
When we returned to the lobby, we met with one of the hotel’s managers. We were shown the Signature and Imperial Suite, the hotel’s most expensive suites.
The Signature Suites are 214 sqm. worth of space and elegant design. In this suite, the large glass windows across the whole room offer a view of the Dubai Creek. The suite has a large living area appended with a finely made dining area. The bedroom and bathroom are also spacious areas with charming design and decorated with unique flair.
Meanwhile, the two Imperial Suites are in the highest floor of the hotel. These 1,200 sqm suites have two bedrooms with Italian designs and high-class rococo and baroque art patterns. Inside these bi-level beauty, there is also a grand staircase, private elevator, fitness gym with sauna, shower room and powder room, billiard room with bar counter, private pool and garden, library, reading and study area, multi-purpose area, kitchen, dining, living and majilis area, and more. They also have a 180-degree view of the Dubai creek. They are a showcase of the best the Versace brand has to offer.
Both suites enable access to the Executive Lounge and its benefits.
Afternoon Tea at Mosaico Lounge
After the tour, we enjoyed live music and chocolate afternoon tea by the lounge, Mosaico.
We almost saw the falcon show in the lobby, scheduled every Friday from 12 noon to 3 p.m. We enjoyed our lunch so much that the schedule slipped our minds! We were only reminded of the show when the staff asked us.
We were sad that we missed the event. However, there’s always a next time that we can look forward to a falcon show.
Dinner at Vanitas
Our dinner was booked at the renown Vanitas fine dining restaurant. It represented the hotel’s Italian fine dining experience.
The service was first-rate and the staff's attitude matched the restaurant’s elegant and intimate atmosphere. The opulent setup was composed of Versace-branded furniture and Versace Medusa Blue Collection dinnerware and silver cutlery. Remarkable, scenic paintings also gave the restaurant a classy feel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Italian-themed dinner. We love everything about this place!
Our hotel stay is almost over. Our last morning at the hotel consisted of me savoring my remaining hours in our suite. Only Rock Licker had the breakfast at Giardino.
Even in our suite, the Versace brand showed itself everywhere. I had breakfast in our dining area which consisted of Versace tables and chairs. I ate fruits on a Versace plate and peeled and sliced them with a Versace cutlery set. Even, the dates were contained in Versace boxes. Guess where I drank my breakfast tea from? A Versace cup, too, of course!
All the chinaware is collaboration between Versace and the famous German brand, Rosenthal.
As I relished the view from our balcony I even saw the Versace logo and its classy design on the stone walls, the balcony grills and furniture.
Lunch at Amalfi
Rock Licker and I capped off our Palazzo Versace experience with a barbeque by the pool at Amalfi.
We had fresh salad, grilled seafood and pizzas as we drank fresh grapefruit juice and pineapple juice. One of the staff, Abdel, presented us his specialty iced tea called Levanto. The drink was inspired by a volcanic island in Italy, thus the lava color. It was so refreshing and tasted unique and delicious. We love it!
Chef Yunus Emre Aydin
Executive Sous Chef Yunus Emre Aydin also came to our table to say hello. We found out that aside from his culinary expertise, Chef Yunus is also passionate about photography and he has three different types of camera lenses that he always bring whenever he travels. He even helped us take our photos. We really admire him for being so kind and humble!
We were also given a chocolate cake afterwards. It was to celebrate The Happy Travellers’ first anniversary! Within the three days in the hotel, we were treated nicely, and this kind and sweet gesture highlighted that aspect of our stay.
We enjoyed our last afternoon in the hotel by the swimming pool. It was the best way to end our stay in the hotel. It was like swimming in Las Vegas! A DJ played music nearby, while we enjoyed the water and the sun with celebrities, models, media figures and other sorts of people. It was weekend that's why there was a DJ, and because there was a fashion show and concert in Dubai, these high-profile guests were also staying at our hotel. Of course, we exercised respect towards the other guests. So while we enjoyed the pool experience with them, we didn’t take any photos at all.
When we checked out, Surya greeted us and asked us how we viewed our stay. We could have said a lot of things, but overall, we told him it was exceptional. We promised to see each other the next time we return to Dubai.
In conclusion, Palazzo Versace Dubai is the perfect getaway for couples. The hotel’s subtle sophistication gave a unique flavor to otherwise standard five star hotel experiences. The spa, restaurants, and hotel facilities were to be enjoyed with elegance, class, and style. Moreover, a stay at the hotel becomes fashionable, a reflection of the Versace brand it pays homage to.
